Message from Exec. Headteacher
A Great Start to the New Academic Year
We have had a great start to the new academic year, and it has been wonderful to see how happy and settled the children are in their new classes. We have welcomed a number of new children into the school, as well as our amazing new Nursery and Reception children, who are already off to a flying start!
It always amazes me how quickly children adapt and settle into new routines – much better than we do as adults most of the time!
We have also welcomed a number of new members of staff to the school, many of whom I hope you have had the opportunity to meet over the past week or so. Ms Cordell is our new Year 4 teacher, working alongside Ms Domingos. In Year 5, we welcome Ms Rodrigues, who is working with Ms Bodington, our new Assistant Headteacher for Year 5. Mr Braganza is our new Year 6 teacher. He has joined us from Forster Park and is also our KS2 Phase Leader. Ms Sharpe is our KS1 Phase Leader, while Ms Deacon is our EYFS Phase Leader. We also welcome Ms Dalrymple, who is working alongside Ms Bala in Year 3, and Mrs Anderson, our new Cross-Federation Deputy Headteacher.
Our Meet the Teacher events this week have been very well received. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s class, please either make an appointment to speak with their class teacher or, if it is a quick query, catch them briefly at the end of the school day.
We have also launched our new rewards system, which is linked closely to our school values. Please take the time to talk to your children about their achievements and the values they are demonstrating in school. It is important that, together, we build a strong community based on these shared values, with staff, Governors and parents/carers modelling them consistently for our children.
As a school community, we will continue to strive to be the best we can be. Our children are at the heart of everything we do, and we want them to be proud ambassadors for Rangefield and the Oakbridge Federation.
I look forward to working with you all throughout what promises to be a very exciting and successful year.

Arbor for New Families
Thank you our new families who has already signed up to our Arbor Parent Portal. If you haven’t signed up already, please check your emails.
All clubs and trips can be booked and paid for using Arbor – so it is really important to sign up so that you receive the communications from school quickly.

Parental Consents on Arbor
Parents and carers of Year 5 and 6 children who walk home independently are reminded to provide the school with permission via Arbor.
Children who need to bring a mobile phone to school should hand it to their class teacher or the school office on arrival. Phones must not be used during the school day.
Please remember to provide permission via Arbor for your child to bring a mobile phone to school.

Munchkin PE 💥💥
💥 Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 absolutely crushed their first Munchkin Sports PE session today!
Coaches Callum and Claire were super impressed with everyone’s epic evasive running skills. The energy was through the roof as they looked for space and dodged obstacles! 🏃♂️⚡
🎵 Playground Dance Club was also a massive hit today for years 1, 2, 3 & 4! Reminder: Just turn up in the playground every week from 12:00 – 13:00 PM. 🙌

Family Support Officer

Would you like to improve your English while your children are at school?
Our community COMESOL English classes will restart on Friday 25TH September at 9AM.
These classes are completely free and open to all parents whose first language is not English. Please come to the drop-off gate or the main office after morning drop-off. We look forward to welcoming all new EAL parents!
New School Reward System
You may have noticed that you are already receiving celebration reward points on your Arbor app. As a Federation, we have launched an exciting new rewards system that the children are absolutely loving. Pupils are awarded points directly linked to our school values. Once they earn enough points, they can choose to spend them in our new Rewards Shop, which will open every other week. Please talk to your children about the points they have earned. Celebrating their achievements at home will encourage them to keep making fantastic progress in all areas of their lives.
Our core values are at the heart of our Federation. We want these values to be shared by our whole community, and we ask all staff, families, and visitors to model and uphold them for our children. From this week, our rewards and assemblies will be linked to these nine core values:
Please help us by talking to your children about these values and discussing how they can demonstrate them both inside and outside of school.
Office Opening Times
The office opening hours are 8.45am – 12.15pm and 3.15pm to 4pm.
If you have an appointment for your child/ren in the afternoon and they require collecting from school before the end of the day, this needs to have been communicated with the school and evidence provided prior to 12.15 on the day of the appointment, so that the information is passed on to the class teacher. The class teacher is then able to ensure that the child is ready for collection at the given time. Parents will not be able to call in to the school office and collect a child without prior notice, unless it is an absoloute emergency.
⏰ Late Collections
A reminder that children should be collected promptly at 3.30pm. If you are delayed and your child is collected after this time, a £5 late collection charge will apply.

Flu 🤧😫
Flu season is nearly with us and the time has started to protect your children and the wider school community from flu.
Flu spreads easily among children and adults in school settings.
Children who get flu may need to be absent for a week or longer, and flu can lead to serious complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia which may lead to hospitalisation. Their parents or carers may need to take time off work, which can have knock-on effects for families already experiencing debt or food poverty. Flu can also spread easily from children to adults, with serious and sometimes fatal consequences.

NHS Height and Weight Measurements 📏
Every year in England, school children in reception and year 6 have their height and weight checked at school. This is called the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP).
Children’s height and weight measurements are collected to build an understanding of how children are growing. The information from the NCMP is used by local councils and the NHS to plan the provision of health and leisure services for families to promote healthier growth in children.
If you are happy for your child to be measured, you do not need to do anything. If you do not want your child’s height and weight to be measured, or your child has a medical condition that affects their height or weight, please let us know using the contact details in the letter below:
Project Speak Safe – Lewisham
Speak Safe is a simple, anonymous online survey that allows young people to share concerns or experiences that may have made them feel unsafe. The survey takes around 30–60 seconds to complete and gathers key information such as what happened, where, and when, helping police and partners respond proactively and prevent future incidents. Any relevant information to the school will be shared with the school leadership team.
