Message from Exec. Headteacher

As we reach the final days of the academic year, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and to reflect on some of the fantastic achievements we’ve celebrated together.
Sports Day Success!
A huge well done to all our children for their amazing enthusiasm and sportsmanship during this year’s Sports Day. Despite the hot weather, every child gave their best, cheered each other on, and showed true team spirit. It was a joy to watch them take part with such energy and pride. A special thank you to all our families who came along to support – your encouragement and participation helped make the day even more special.
Year 6 SATs
We’d also like to congratulate our wonderful Year 6 pupils for completing their SATs with such maturity and determination. They have worked incredibly hard, and we are very proud of all they have achieved. Results will be sent out next week, and whatever the outcomes, they should all feel very proud of their efforts throughout the year.
A Year to Celebrate
This has been a year of fantastic achievements across our schools – from academic progress to creative and sporting successes, trips, performances, and so much more. Our children continue to amaze us with their talents, kindness, and growth. To all staff, parents, carers, and most importantly, the children – thank you for making this school community such a special one.
Wishing You a Wonderful Summer
As this is our final newsletter of the year, I’d like to wish you all a restful and joyful summer break. Whether you’re travelling, spending time with loved ones, or simply enjoying the sunshine, I hope the holiday brings happiness and well-deserved relaxation.

Good Luck to all of Leavers in the summer and if you continue as have at Forster Park, you will all be successful young learners and achieve well in the next stages of your education. You and we have many memories of your time here at Forster Park and we will all look back with happy memories.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another exciting year of learning, growth, and opportunity.

Message from Head of School

As we reach the end of another academic year, we want to take a moment to reflect on and celebrate what has truly been an exceptional year at Forster Park.

This has not just been another year of strong academic achievement – though we are incredibly proud to report highly successful outcomes across all key stages – it has also been a year of growth, pride, and remarkable moments that have defined our school community.

Our children have continued to excel, with results that once again reflect the high standards we set for ourselves and the quality of teaching and learning across the school. From Reception through to Year 6, children have shown resilience, focus, and a growing confidence in their abilities. Whether mastering phonics in Year 1, tackling complex maths challenges in Key Stage 2, or preparing for transition to secondary school, every year group has something to be proud of.

But success this year has gone far beyond assessments. Our curriculum has continued to inspire, engage and enrich. Across subjects – from scientific investigations and historical explorations, to expressive artwork and powerful writing – our children have shown curiosity, creativity, and commitment. The range and depth of work produced this year has been nothing short of brilliant.

This year has also been a time of significant growth and development for Forster Park. Our community is stronger than ever, with partnerships between staff, children, and families helping to build a school where every child is seen, supported, and celebrated. We’ve made exciting use of our outdoor spaces, expanded opportunities in the arts and sports including our first ever Triathlon, and continue to foster a culture where children feel safe to take risks and proud to succeed.
As we approach the final week of term, a few important dates for your diary:

Festival of Us – Monday 21st July – A day to celebrate our diverse and vibrant school community. We are welcoming contributions to our International Food Stall – if you would like to bring in a dish that reflects your family’s culture and heritage, we would love to include it in the celebration!

Academic Review Day – Tuesday 22nd July – An opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher and reflect on their progress and achievements across the year. Please ensure you have booked your appointment.
As ever, the end of the year brings mixed emotions. We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 children, who are now ready to take their next steps in secondary school. They leave Forster Park not just with knowledge and skills, but with memories, friendships, and a sense of identity that will stay with them. We wish each of them every success and happiness in the exciting years ahead.

At the same time, we look forward to welcoming our new Reception children and families, who will be starting their journey with us in September. We can’t wait to get to know you and see you grow in confidence and curiosity.

We are also sadly saying goodbye to Ms Mundy and Ms Hart, two long-serving and dedicated members of our teaching team. Both are moving on to part-time roles in other schools to spend more time with their young families. Their impact at Forster Park has been significant, and they will be deeply missed by children, families, and staff alike. I’m sure you will join myself and the whole school in thanking them for everything they’ve given to our community and in wishing them all the best for the future.
None of this would be possible without you – our families. Your encouragement, support and partnership with us throughout the year have been instrumental in making Forster Park such a special place to learn and grow.
We wish all our families a safe, joyful, and restful summer holiday. Thank you for another wonderful year – we look forward to seeing you all at our Festival of Us, Academic review day and if not in September for another exciting chapter.

Sports Day

Splish, Splash Fun for Our Youngest! 💦

We kicked off the day with a splash! Our Reception and KS1 children headed straight to the field for the exciting water-based games. Lots of laughter filled the air as they tried to stay dry – but some of our wonderful teachers got absolutely soaked joining in the fun! You should have seen their faces! 🤣

A Perfect Picnic Together 🧺

Then, the entire school gathered for a wonderful picnic lunch! As KS2 joined us on the field, families spread out their blankets under the shady trees, enjoying delicious food and even better company. It was such a peaceful and happy interlude to our action-packed afternoon!

KS2 Gets Soaked! 🌊

After lunch, it was KS2’s turn for the water-based games, and they brought just as much enthusiasm! More splashes and giggles filled the air as everyone cooled down and had a fantastic time.

Racing to the Finish Line 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

The day ended with the exciting running races. All the children showed incredible determination and speed, making us so proud! We even had some parents join in the fun, which was brilliant to see. There were a few tumbles during the parent races, and we really hope everyone who fell is okay! 🙏

Thank you to all the children, parents, and staff who made this year’s Sports Day such a memorable and joyful event. It truly was a day of teamwork, laughter, and fantastic sporting spirit! We can’t wait for next year!

Alex Yee Triathlon

Our Fantastic Alex Yee Triathlon! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️

What an incredible day we had at the first-ever Alex Yee Triathlon! It was an absolutely brilliant experience for all our children, filled with excitement and determination.

For those who might not know, Alex Yee is a local hero and an amazing athlete! He’s an Olympic champion in triathlon, winning gold and silver medals at the Tokyo Olympics. He grew up right here in Lewisham, and we were so lucky to have him involved in our special event.

Splashing, Wheeling, and Sprinting to Glory! 🥇

The children were simply magnificent! They started by bravely swimming in a U-shape around the pool, showing off their fantastic swimming skills. They emerged from the water soaking but beaming, quickly pulling on their brand-new Alex Yee t-shirts – they looked so professional!

Next, it was onto the bike and scooter course. The children could choose to bike or scoot their way around, demonstrating great balance and speed. Finally, with a burst of energy, they ran to the finish line, where they were met with huge cheers! Every single child was a winner, proudly collecting their well-deserved medals and goodie bags.

Alex Yee: A True Inspiration! ✨

We were all so thrilled to have Alex Yee there cheering on the children. He was so lovely and encouraging to every single child, high-fiving and offering words of congratulations. Alex also shared his wonderful vision, saying he wants to “bring Lewisham to the world.” It was truly inspiring to see how much he cares about our community and encouraging the next generation of athletes.

A huge well done to all the children who took part, and a massive thank you to Alex Yee for making our first triathlon an unforgettable event!

Festival of Us – Food Stalls

As a school, we are truly blessed with the diversity of the children attending Forster Park and we
ask you to celebrate this with us on Monday 21st of July 2025 with our Festival of Us.

The food stall at the ‘Festival of Us’, was such a huge success last year, we are asking parents if they would kindly make and bring in a delicious dish, once again, to reflect a country of your choice.
For those parents/carers who are willing to support once again, please could you bring in your dish to the school office on the morning of Monday 21st July, preferably in a disposable container, tin foil tray or tin – the dish must have a label which should include the ingredients of the dish.

We will be charging a £1.00 for a plate of food and the money raised will go towards children’s enrichment activities.

Thank you for all your support this year and can’t wait to celebrate our school and our children with you.  Many Thanks     –    FLYER

After School Club – Feedback

As we are getting towards the end of our first academic year, we would to say a big thank you to all our parents and carers for supporting Buddies at Forsterpark and completing our questionnaire. We would like to share some of the comments we received.

What do you value most about the Buddies after-school club?

“My children have developed positive relationships with the teachers in the after-school club. There is a wide variety of toys and games available, and my children have noted that the options this year are significantly better than they were last year. They prefer the classroom now compared to before. As a parent, I find the teachers to be great and very approachable; they are always willing to help. Communication via email is straightforward, and managing bookings is also very easy.”

“After-school care. My child loves the free flowing aspect of the club.”

Screen Time and Summer

For children, it’s hard to beat the thrill of the last day of school, looking forward to more freedom, fewer responsibilities, and no homework. But for parents there’s the worry that what children are excited about is more screen time. We don’t want our children to be kidnapped by Minecraft or YouTube and — perhaps even more — we don’t want to spend the summer fighting about it. What we need is a plan for tech use that allows children to have fun and do rewarding things both away from screens and on them.

Below are some links to tips for making a plan that works for your family:
