Message from Head of School

A very warm welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing half-term break and managed to stay cool during the recent hot weather.

As we embark on this final term of the academic year, it is a naturally exciting time. There is so much to look forward to over the coming weeks, but it is also the perfect moment to reflect on everything we have achieved together so far. I am immensely proud of the hard work, determination, and wonderful achievements of all our children since September.

Celebrating Outstanding Attendance:  Most importantly, I want to shine a spotlight on our fantastic school attendance up to this point in the year. Being in school every single day is absolutely vital; consistency is the key that unlocks your child’s ability to make the academic progress they need and deserve.  To give you an idea of just how brilliant our community has been, here is how we currently stand compared to schools across the country:

  • Forster Park’s Current Attendance: 95.6%
  • National Attendance Average: 94.8%

We are officially beating the national average! This is a massive achievement, and I want to thank you all for your unwavering support in getting your children up, ready, and into the classroom.

With this being our final stretch before the summer, this high standard needs to continue. We have so many exciting learning opportunities, activities, and events planned that it would be silly to miss a single day! Let’s keep this momentum going right until the final bell.

Key Dates for Your Diaries:  We have a packed calendar for the final term, but there are two major community events you will definitely want to note down:

Annual Sports Day & Family Picnic – Friday 26th June:  This is always one of the most memorable and joyous days in the Forster Park calendar, and this year promises to be just as much fun! The day will be split into three wonderful parts:

  • Morning (AM): EYFS and Key Stage 1 Sports Day events.
  • Lunchtime: Our Whole-School Family Picnic! Dust off your picnic blankets, pack some tasty snacks, and come join your children on the field to enjoy lunch together.
  • Afternoon (PM): Key Stage 2 Sports Day events.

The “Festival of Us” – Friday 17th July (Last Friday of Term):  Our spectacular celebration of our vibrant, diverse school community is back! If any parents, carers, or local entrepreneurs are keen to rent a table-top space to sell crafts, food, or goods during the festival, we would love to have you. Please contact Ms Hallet as soon as possible for more details on how to book.

I absolutely cannot wait to see this term get into full swing and to witness all the wonderful things our children will achieve before we break up for the summer holidays. Thank you, as always, for making Forster Park such a special place to learn and grow.  Mr Bond

🚴BMX Adventures at Beckenham Place Park🚴

Our exciting new cycling initiative kicked off with an action-packed first session at the Lewisham BMX track, and the British weather certainly gave us a dramatic welcome! A group of 15 girls, spanning a wide range of mixed cycling abilities, took to the track with incredible enthusiasm—despite a heavy, relentless downpour that left everyone absolutely soaked to the skin.

Riding a BMX is a whole different ball game, and doing it in the pouring rain made it an even greater test of grit. The girls faced a gruelling physical challenge as they had to master the technique of cycling completely stood up to navigate the slick track. The determination on display was nothing short of inspiring. A special shout-out goes to Rahaf and Ama, who both achieved a massive milestone by successfully cycling on their very first session despite the tough, wet conditions! We are incredibly proud of how all the girls pushed through the fatigue, laughed off the rain, and supported one another. With four more weeks of this incredible cycling program left, we can’t wait to see their skills and confidence soar even higher (and hopefully under sunnier skies!).

Cheerleading: On Sunday afternoon, the 17th of May we had a cheerleading competition in Hertfordshire. We Cheer London Allstarz, competed between 12 teams and came seventh overall. At competition, we took part in a tradition where we decorate pegs. Children then peg people secretly on their hair, clothes and even bows. Before we went on stage, we practised behind the curtains. We tumbled, practised stunts and warmed up. We got medals and a bunch of pegs. It was an amazing first experience for us three on stage. – By Frankie, Kaitlin and Ava Edey.

DT Bridges:  Our young engineers in Falcon Class have officially completed their DT bridge-making project, and the results are spectacular! After weeks of meticulous planning, precise measuring, and careful crafting with junior hacksaws and glue guns, the final structures were put to the ultimate test. The classroom was filled with excitement as we loaded weights onto each wooden bridge to test their strength and stability. It was incredibly inspiring to witness the children’s problem-solving skills in action as they analysed how different shapes and joints impacted their bridge’s weight capacity. A huge congratulations to Falcon Class for demonstrating such fantastic teamwork, craftsmanship, and resilience throughout this hands-on challenge—our future structural engineers have truly shone!

Our incredible Year 6 pupils: showed determination, resilience and maturity throughout SATs week, and we could not be prouder of them. After months of hard work, perseverance and pushing themselves to improve every single day, they approached the tests with confidence and gave absolutely their very best. They truly rose to the challenge and represented our school brilliantly!

To celebrate all of their hard work and effort, we ended the week with a well-deserved trip to Forster Memorial Park last Friday. The children had a fantastic afternoon enjoying the beautiful sunshine, playing on the swings, taking part in games such as tug of war and football, and enjoying lots of ball games together.

There was plenty of laughter, teamwork and smiles all around as everyone relaxed with a picnic and cooled down with ice lollies in the glorious weather which stayed perfect just for us! It was a wonderful way to celebrate a week of achievement, friendship and unforgettable memories.

To top it all off, we then went on an amazing trip to Chessington World of Adventures where we had a great time and saw real life giraffes.  Check out our photos on Hawk classes’ post below.

VE Day Celebrations:  This month, the children at Buddies @ FP had a wonderful time celebrating VE Day. They enjoyed making and decorating delicious cakes, which helped them learn about the importance of this special historical event while having lots of fun.

Our VE Day picnic was a huge success, with children enjoying a range of activities, sharing food together, and spending quality time with their friends. It was fantastic to see everyone joining in and celebrating as a community.

Outdoor Adventures: The children have also been making the most of the outdoor space by building tents and creating their own imaginative play areas. They have worked together brilliantly, developing teamwork, problem-solving skills, and creativity while having fun outdoors.

We are proud of the enthusiasm, imagination, and friendships that continue to grow at Buddies @ FP and look forward to sharing more exciting activities with you next month!
