YR4 Kingfisher Class News @FP

It has been another busy and enjoyable week in Kingfisher Class @FP!

In English, we have begun an exciting new unit based on Sometimes the Stars, a captivating video about a girl who embarks on a mysterious train journey. The children have been developing their descriptive writing skills by creating detailed setting descriptions and have also written thoughtful journal entries from the perspective of the main character. We have been impressed by their imagination and use of ambitious vocabulary.

In Maths, we have continued our work on money, practising adding and subtracting amounts, solving word problems and applying our learning to real-life situations.

In Science, we explored how animals are classified. The children learned about different animal groups and discussed the characteristics that scientists use to sort and identify living things.

In History, we have continued our learning about the Islamic Empire, building our understanding of its achievements, influence and significance throughout history.

In PE, we have been developing our cricket skills in preparation for our upcoming competition. The children have been practising their batting, bowling and fielding techniques and have shown great teamwork and determination.

Cricket Competition Reminder
Our cricket competition will take place at Forster Park on Thursday 12th June. Places are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so please let us know as soon as possible if your child would like to take part.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another exciting week of learning in Kingfisher Class!
