Message from Head of School

As we head into the final two weeks of the academic year, the school is buzzing with excitement, pride, and preparation for a fantastic send-off to the Summer Term.

We start this week’s newsletter with a huge round of applause for all of our incredible children who participated in the Alex Yee Triathlon at St Dunstan’s College this week!

It was absolutely wonderful to see so many children from across Key Stage 2 coming back to school beaming with pride over their achievements. To make an already brilliant event even better, the children even got the opportunity to meet Olympic medallist Alex Yee in person! A massive shout-out and thank you to all of the adults who accompanied the children and helped make this memorable experience possible.

Academic Review Day — Monday 20th July

With the end of the school year fast approaching, please remember to book your slot for our annual Academic Review Day. This day provides a wonderful opportunity for you and your children to meet with their class teachers, take a tour of the school, look around the classrooms, and celebrate your children’s hard work by looking through their books.

To make the day even more special, our catering partners, Nourish, will be cooking a fantastic taster menu in the canteen area. Be sure to pop in for something tasty to eat!

‘Festival of Us’ — Friday 17th July (From 2:00 PM)

Please ensure our ‘Festival of Us’ is firmly marked in your diaries! I wrote to all parents earlier this week detailing the timings and arrangements.

  • Arrival: The gates will open at 2:00 PM via the Waters Road Entrance.
  • Dress Code: Children (and parents!) are invited to wear traditional dress or colours that celebrate their heritage or a country they wish to represent.
  • The Food Stall & Enterprise: We are asking for donations of delicious, cultural dishes to be brought to the school office on the morning of Friday 17th July (in disposable containers and clearly labelled with ingredients). Plates of food will be available for £1.00, alongside other enterprise stalls, with all proceeds going toward student enrichment activities next year.

It would be truly lovely to see as many parents and carers as possible at both the Festival of Us and the Academic Review Day to celebrate the end of a brilliant year together.

Finally, as you know, our Sports Day was previously postponed due to the hot weather. We have pencilled in an alternative date for this Friday 10th July.

However, the current weather forecast indicates another very warm week ahead, with temperatures predicted to climb into the 30s by Friday. As always, the children’s safety and well-being is my absolute number one priority. Myself and the leadership team will closely monitor the forecast and will message all parents at the start of next week to confirm whether the event can safely go ahead.

Thank you all for your continued support, flexibility, and community spirit.

Have a lovely weekend one and all!  Warm regards,

Mr. Bond

Triathlon Triumph for KS2! 🎖️🏅🥇🥈🥉

Sixty of our fantastic Key Stage 2 students laced up their trainers and dove into the Alex Yee Triathlon on Wednesday 1st July. Named after the Olympic champion, the event challenged our pupils to swim, bike, and run their way to the finish line. The energy was electric, and our students showed incredible grit and sportsmanship. Here is what some of our athletes had to say about the day:

  • Jemima: “The transition from the bike to the run was the hardest part because my legs felt like jelly, but crossing the finish line felt amazing!”
  • Alice: “I was a bit nervous about the swim, but everyone was cheering so loudly that I forgot to be scared. It was the best day ever.”
  • Omro: “Alex Yee is one of my heroes, so getting to race in a triathlon named after him was brilliant. I want to do another one as soon as possible!”

Well done to everyone who took part and met their hero—you represented our school brilliantly!

Little Authors, Big Dreams: YR5 Biographies! 📝

Over the last three weeks, our Falcon students have poured their hearts, creativity, and hard work into a brilliant literacy project. Inspired by the popular Little People, Big Dreams book series, the children have researched, drafted, and produced their very own beautifully written biography books about the individuals who inspire them most.
The variety of role models chosen by the class truly reflects their diverse interests and passions! Our young authors mapped out the incredible life stories of a fascinating mix of cultural icons, sports stars, and creators, including:

  • Sporting Legends: Tennis champion Carlos Alcaraz and football maestro Lionel Messi
  • Creative Geniuses: Notch (the creator of Minecraft) and magical author J.K. Rowling
  • Entertainment Icons: Hollywood’s own Jack Black, pop sensation Michael Jackson, and even members of the K-pop group KATSEYE.

From structuring timelines to capturing the defining moments of perseverance that led these individuals to success, the children have demonstrated fantastic dedication to their writing. We are incredibly proud of the depth of research and the wonderful presentation skills displayed in each unique book. Watch out bookstore shelves—our Year 5 authors are coming for you!

School Council

Our School Council has been working incredibly hard to make sure every child’s voice is heard at Forster Park!

After discussing ways to gather ideas and feedback from pupils across the school, the School Council put together a proposal to install suggestion boxes in key areas around the school. They presented their ideas, explaining how the boxes would give everyone a safe and simple way to share their thoughts, ideas, concerns and suggestions to help make our school even better.
We’re delighted to share that their proposal has been supported, and the next step is now underway!
To launch this exciting initiative, the School Council has designed a fantastic Vision Board to accompany the suggestion boxes. The display explains:

  • What the suggestion boxes are for
  • What children can write about
  • Where the boxes will be located around the school
  • How the School Council will read, discuss and act on suggestions where possible.

This project has been entirely led by our pupils, who wanted to create more opportunities for everyone to have their say and be involved in shaping school life. We are incredibly proud of the teamwork, leadership and creativity they have shown throughout the process.
Keep an eye out for the new suggestion boxes appearing around the school soon, and don’t forget to have your say!

Every idea counts because together we can make Forster Park an even better place to learn, grow and thrive.

Achievements 👏👏

Well done to Kirithish who has earned the highest award so far in Pelican class! We couldn’t agree more that he is Epic!

We are also so proud of our other top scorers!

  • Conor
  • Freddie R
  • Rudy

Well done to you all.

Parakeet Class – Design & Technology

The children in Parakeet Class have been busy in their Design and Technology (DT) lessons, creating some amazing structures. They showed fantastic creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills as they planned, built, and evaluated their designs. We were very impressed with their enthusiasm and the wonderful structures they produced. Well done, Parakeet Class!

Ibrahim and Tommy said, “We made our structure in the shape of a rocket using marshmallows and toothpicks. We learned how structures are built and how to make them stronger.”

Micah said, “We used pasta and marshmallows to create a structure.”

Falcon Class Become Master Engineers with DIY “Doodlers”!

Our fantastic Falcon students have been busy working as real-world designers and inventors to build their very own “Doodlers”! Through this hands-on STEM project, the children investigated product analysis and problem-solved to develop an exciting, functional design.

During the creation process, the children gained brilliant electrical and mechanical skills, learning:

  • How Series Circuits Work: The children learned that series circuits only have one path for the electrical current to flow.
  • How to Control Components: They discovered that if there is a break in a series circuit, the electrical current will be cut and all the components will stop working. This break can act as a handy switch to turn the Doodler on and off.
  • The Power of Electric Motors: The students explored how an electric motor converts electrical energy into rotational movement, which causes the motor’s axle to spin.
  • Defining Motorised Products: By bringing these ideas together, they successfully engineered a motorised product—an object that uses a motor instead of human force to function and move.

Did You Know? The children had to carefully test their configurations to ensure their Doodlers remained stable and wouldn’t easily topple over while drawing!

We are incredibly proud of the creativity, determination, and scientific knowledge demonstrated by our Year 5 innovators! Check out our awesome Doodlers!

BMX Success 🚴🚴‍♂️🚴🚴‍♂️

Girls on Track: BMX Success at Beckenham Place Park!

Our Year 5 and 6 girls have officially wrapped up their final BMX training session at Beckenham Place Park, and what a journey it has been! Over the course of the program, sixteen of our students have been challenging themselves, building confidence, and mastering new skills on two wheels.

The progress has been fantastic to watch. Many of the girls successfully tackled the full track and conquered their fears by riding down from the high starting ramps. At the same time, others have made brilliant strides in mastering the core mechanics and balance of cycling. Whether they were flying over the berms or perfecting the basics, every single girl gave it her all.

Huge congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 BMX superstars!

We’re making it easier for both staff and parents to pay by card in Arbor. Whether you or your parents are topping up an account, purchasing an item from the school shop, or paying for a trip – you’ll now be able to enter and save your card details, and pay by Apple or Google Pay on your desktop.

When entering card details in the MIS or Parent Portal, you’ll be taken to a new, more intuitive page (powered by ultra-secure Stripe). Simply follow the instructions and you’ll be taken back to the MIS and/or Parent Portal once your transaction is complete.
