Message from Exec. Headteacher

The academic year is running away with us quickly.   The children are settled in well and much learning has already taken place.  It has been lovely to go into classes and see the children enjoying their learning and focussed, they are all working extremely hard.

It is Parents’ Evening on 22nd, 23rdand 24th October and this is a chance for you to hear all about the great work your children have achieved.   The teachers would really like to see every parent of children in their classes as it is a chance to share success but also how you and we can work together to support them even further.     It would be amazing to have 100% parent attendance for Parents’ Evening this year and I am sure that you will all gain much from it.  It is your time to ask questions, whether you are concerned about any aspect or unsure about the way your children are learning a particular concept.   If you want to come with questions already written down, then the teachers will be only too happy to help, no question is a silly question and can only support your children.  Parental engagement is a high priority for us at Rangefield and we very much look forward to seeing you all.  To book your time slot follow the instructions further down the newsletter.  Mrs Fenniche

Message from Head of School

The term is racing by, just another week until the half term break.  It has been a really busy few weeks, with lots of positive progress academically and behaviour has seen a real improvement, which is great.

Lots of children have had the chance to go out on trips and we are particularly grateful to the Al-Emaan Mosque for offering large numbers of our children such a warm welcome and an insight into life as a Muslim.  Our regular trips to St Barnabas Church will continue and we are also working on visits to other places of worship as well.

It has been good to have many of you in during the term, enjoying events with your children and a core volunteering to support in class. If you haven’t already, please do sign up for the parents’ evenings that are taking place next week.

There are a list of dates on this newsletter including early warning of Christmas dates.

I hope you all have a decent half-term break, do encourage your children to read, perhaps do some maths as well as getting some rest.  Mr Ball

School Council

Our school council representatives met up last Friday and there was a lot of interesting discussion and ideas.

They have formed a group of Eco Warriors whose roles include, checking how the school recycles; how clean it is and how efficiently it runs.

They have asked for a calm/reading area in the playground, preferably under a canopy – Mr Ball is in agreement and suggested KS1 could have a small ssmooga area with chairs and KS2 could use the gazebo in the quiet area.

The school councillors agreed that Mia and De’Shon would deliver a speech at the Remembrance Service on behalf of Rangefield.  They also agree to do an assembly to celebrate some of their heros for Black History Month on 18th October.

Piano Club

We are pleased to inform you that the sign-up deadline for Piano Club has been extended to Wednesday, 23rd October.

If your child is interested in joining, please make sure to submit their registration by this new date. Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out!

  • Grey trousers/skirt/dress or purple gingham summer dress
  • Plain grey socks or tights
  • Black shoes or black trainers (Trainers must be plain and all black with no logos. Designer trainers are not permitted).

Office Opening Times

In recent weeks we have been reviewing how our school office operates and so that our staff can be as effective and efficient as possible, we will be making changes to it’s opening hours from Monday 11th November.

The office opening hours will be:

8.45am – 12.15pm and 3.15pm – 4pm

If you have an appointment for your child/ren in the afternoon and they require collecting from school before the end of the day, this needs to have been communicated with the school and evidence provided prior to 12.15 on the day of the appointment, so that the information is passed on to the class teacher.  The class teacher is then able to ensure that the child is ready for collection at the given time.  Parents will not be able to call in to the school office and collect a child without prior notice, unless it is an absoloute emergency.  To read more please see the letter from Mrs Fenniche here:  Office Times 18 10 2024

How to Book Parents’ Evening

Firstly make sure we have your correct email address, you can check this via the ScholarPack App (INSTRUCTIONS).

You should have received an email from ‘Juniper Education – Primarysite’ inviting you to choose a date and time to meet your child’s class teacher.  Simply select the date you wish to attend and a time that suits you best.

If you haven’t received an email and you have checked your junk/spam folders please contact Lisa in the school office.

Those affected will need to make this change by 31st December 2024, otherwise they will find it difficult to prove their immigration status.

If this affects you, apply for your eVisa at www.gov.uk/evisa before 31st December 2024.

You can read further information here:  www.lewisham.gov.uk/evisa of attend on of the sessions on the flyer above (click to enlarge).
