Message from Exec. Headteacher
Welcome back to a busy term with much to look forward to. Our Year 6 children went on their school journey last week, a great time was had by all – hopefully you have seen their photos on our school website, if not you can see them here: School Journey photos.
With the darker evenings setting in, please make sure that you are at school by 3.30pm to collect your child/children every day, remembering that Friday ends at 3.30pm now. We will not allow children to walk home alone , if it does not fit with our policy.
Message from Head of School
I hope everyone had a good half-term break. As usual 101 things going on at school and we are now 4 weeks away from the Christmas holidays. We have lots of things planned for the children between now and then, but the key thing will still be the curriculum to ensure progress continues.
There is a list of diary dates and I would be really keen to see as many of you as possible involved.
I know a regular request, most children are now able to access PE lessons as they have a kit. We pay for external coaching in addition to the lesson taught by staff, I know most but not all children like PE, but it is a key element of the curriculum, including for physical and mental health. Please do make sure your child has a kit in school, they can leave it here until the holidays.
We will be collecting food and donations for hampers as usual and know despite times being tough for many, that you will be generous in your donations.

Children in Need Fundraising
Thank you to all our children, families and staff who have helped us raise £107.50 for Children in Need to help support their amazing work in local communities and all over the world.
We have seen some really crazy hairstyles today, one of them in the photo below took the pupil one whole hour to achieve – can you guess who it is? (Click on the images to enlarge)
Police Visit to Nursery
This week a police van came to visit our Nursery children. The police offers spoke to the children about their jobs, what they do, why it’s important and even let them try on police uniform. The police van was parked on our playground, which meant the children had the opportunity to see inside, ask lots of questions and sit inside the van.
Ambulance Service Visit
Before half term at Rangefield, we were delighted to have Josh from London’s Ambulance Service in to discuss the importance of the recovery position.
Josh helped some of our pupils to practice and demonstrate the recovery position and allowed the school to observe this step by step. We also learnt about calling 999 in an emergency and explained what information the children would need to know in order to help their loved ones in a crisis.
It was extremely enlightening and inspiring to hear about Josh’s career. We look forward to having him in again in the future.
Diwali
At Rangefield we have been learning about the ‘festival of light’ called ‘Diwali’. We had a whole school assembly and we celebrated together. We shared the fantastic creations we have made such as lanterns, diva lamps, mehndi hand designs and much more. As a school we all learnt a Diwali song and shared this experience together. It was brilliant!
After School Clubs
We are pleased to be able to offer a range of after school clubs which run until 4:45pm each week day for a variety of year groups.
Currently there are spaces in the following clubs: football for years 4, 5 and 6, stay and play, computer club, mindfulness, film club, Mathletics and art club.
Please log into your Parent Pay account to book your child’s place and pay for these activities.
Half Term Reading Challenge
A BIG thank you to everyone who took part in our sponsored reading challenge over the last half term. We raised an amazing £433 for the school and congratulations to 3ZS for being the class that raised the most money.
Mayor of London’s Love your Lunch Challenge
The Mayor of London is inviting all London school children in years 3 to 6 to make a creative piece of work, celebrating their experiences with school lunches.
The challenge is an exciting opportunity for children to tell them about what school meals mean to them, their friends, families, and communities.
They are asking children to design a creative piece of work on the theme:
‘The best thing about school lunches is…’
ALL entrants will receive a token of appreciation for sharing their thoughts and ideas with the Mayor, including enamel badges, bookmarks and certificates signed by the Mayor.
Children entering the challenge will also have the chance to have their piece of work featured on the Mayor of London’s website and social media.
The deadline for entries is 20 November 2023 at 11:59 pm. Information about the challenge, including more details, terms and conditions, and how to enter is included on their website here, and you can contact them with any queries at UFSMTeam@London.gov.uk
