Message from Exec. Headteacher
It has been absolutely wonderful to see so many of you at our recent Parents’ Evening. Thank you for taking the time to come and share in the achievements and successes of your children so far this year. We are so proud of how hard the children have been working and how much progress they have already made — their enthusiasm and love for learning truly shine through.
We are also very excited to share some fantastic news about our new Forest School building, which has now been completed on the green area in front of the school. This beautiful new space will provide an amazing opportunity for outdoor learning and exploration. Once staff training has been completed, we will be launching our very own Forest School sessions — a wonderful resource that will allow children to learn through nature, develop confidence, and build a deeper understanding of the world around them.
All of the children have already had the chance to visit the new Forest School area, and their excitement has been infectious! We can’t wait to see all the learning adventures that will take place there in the months ahead.
As we reach the end of this half term, I want to wish all our families a very happy and restful break. Take time to relax, read with your children and recharge, ready for what promises to be a busy and joyful run-up to Christmas.

Message from Head of School
As we come to the end of our first half term, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a busy, fun, and inspiring few weeks. The children have embraced new learning with enthusiasm, and it’s been wonderful to see their curiosity and creativity flourish across the school.
Celebrating Learning
It was also a pleasure to welcome so many of you to our parent-teacher meetings. We hope the information shared was helpful and informative, and that it supports you in continuing your child’s learning journey at home. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share such positive feedback with our staff; it means a great deal.
Sporting Success
We are incredibly proud of our football teams this term! Both our LKS2 and UKS2 teams have demonstrated excellent skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship in their recent matches. We look forward to seeing their commitment continue as they represent Forster Park in the local leagues.
Enriching Experiences
Assemble our Young Governors, I had the pleasure of meeting with the young Governors last week, we visited our Forest school area, discussed wishes for the year ahead, our trip before Christmas to Parliament. I look forward to meeting them again in the new term. We have also agreed to add their voice to our newsletter!
Our commitment to providing diverse opportunities continues across the curriculum:
BEAM Workshops: A special well done to our Year 3 girls who participated in the BEAM workshops this week. These sessions focused on building confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills in a fun and engaging environment.
National Trust Video: We were thrilled this week to receive the final cut of the video created in partnership with the National Trust and Street Trees for Living. This fantastic project highlights the importance of environmental citizenship and features some brilliant contributions from our students. We will be sharing a link to the video with you all next week!
Happy Half Term & Forest School Cabin
As we head into the two-week half term break, I wish you all a happy and restful time, whatever your plans may be. We look forward to welcoming the children back refreshed and ready for another exciting half term.
On a final, exciting note, we are delighted to confirm that the construction of our new Forest School Cabin is now complete! This wonderful new resource is the latest addition to enhance our outdoor learning provision, and we know the children are particularly looking forward to using the fire pit for toasting marshmallows closer to Christmas time!

School Council News – Our First Meeting
Our councillors are:

We talked about their roles and responsibilities, our upcoming trip to the Houses of Parliament, and shared ideas for playground improvements. We also visited the Cabin and Forest School area, which the children loved exploring, and discussed ways to make even better use of that space.
Mr Bond has also challenged the councillors to take on a new role — they’ll be contributing to the school newsletter every fortnight with updates and pupil voices!
It was a fantastic first meeting, and we’re excited to see all the wonderful ideas our School Council will bring to life this year.

“I think the new Forest School cabin is amazing!
It will be a great place for us to learn, explore and have fun, even when it rains. I’m really excited to spend more time outside and take part in lots of different activities, like building dens, cooking on the campfire and learning about nature.
I think we’ll discover lots of new things and gain new skills that will help us in the future.
The Forest School will help children connect with the outdoors and understand how important it is to look after our environment. It’s also a lovely place to spend time with friends, work together and help each other. I think everyone will really enjoy it, and I can’t wait to start using it soon!”
Achievements
Hady in Falcon Class (Year 5) has written his very own chapter book — a project that took him months to complete! Hady has been writing short stories for years, and his new book, The Mystery Triplets, is the culmination of all his storytelling efforts. Keep an eye out for Part Two — and maybe even a movie version coming soon!
River in Pelican Class (Year 3) has shown amazing improvements in her writing and her teacher Mrs Gonsalves is so very very proud of her. Well done to River from everyone at FP.
Children in Kingfisher Class (Year 4) drafted and edited their own pizza recipes, practising key literacy skills such as sequencing, using imperative verbs, and descriptive language. We heard that the pizzas were amazing!
Children in Falcon Class (Year 5) have been busy showing their creativity and focus while making beautiful jewellery from air-dried clay! 💫 We are so proud of how you all experimented with new techniques and supported each other throughout the activity. Your jewellery looks amazing — well done, Falcons! 🦅✨ Keep up the brilliant work!
Spooky Discos
This week, our school hall was transformed into a spooktacular dance floor for the annual Spooky Disco! Children arrived dressed in their most creative costumes — from witches and wizards to skeletons, vampires, and even a few friendly ghosts.
The music was pumping, and everyone was on their feet showing off their best dance moves. There were plenty of smiles (and maybe a few spooky scares!) as pupils played games, joined in the costume parade, and enjoyed tasty Halloween treats.
A big thank you to the staff who helped organise such a fantastic event — and to all the children who came along. We can’t wait to see what creative costumes appear next year!
🔬 Science Fun in Buddies After-School Club! 🧪
This week at Buddies After-School Club, our young scientists rolled up their sleeves for some hands-on science fun! The children took part in a range of exciting experiments that sparked curiosity, creativity, and lots of smiles.
From volcano eruptions made with baking soda and vinegar to rainbow milk, there was plenty of excitement as everyone discovered how science is all around us. The children enjoyed predicting what might happen, testing their ideas, and watching the amazing reactions unfold right before their eyes.
It was wonderful to see everyone working together, sharing ideas, and asking thoughtful questions — just like real scientists!

Alien assistance to understand money
BBC Bitesize Primary has launched Space Shoppers Money Funfair, a new game to help KS1 pupils get to grips with using money. It features aliens who have landed on earth at the Money Funfair and need help to learn how humans use money.
In a series of short, colourful games, children can help the aliens to buy lunar lollies and astronaut stickers. They also have a chance to help them to sell their own out-of-this-world produce, including delights such as refreshing Saturn smoothies and tasty moon dogs.
Space Shoppers Money Funfair helps pupils to learn about the value of different coins, recognising the symbols for pounds and pence, combining coins and notes, giving change, plus lots more. It is a fun way for children to practice their maths skills in an interactive and engaging format.

Starting reception in 2026 – advice and support for Lewisham parents will take place on:
Wednesday 12, Thursday 13, Monday 24 and Wednesday 26 November 2025 at 5pm
It is an informal event to ask all your questions about the admissions process.
Parents / carers can book a place at one of the school talks, to understand the application process, be aware of the timetable and closing date for submitting their application.
After each school talk, parents will have the opportunity to ask questions about the process.
There will also be an opportunity to meet with other Lewisham colleagues, including from Early Years, SEN and Family Navigators.
