Message from Exec Headteacher

Welcome back to the sunny side of the academic year!   So much to achieve in the final term of the year.   We have our forest school that is nearing completion and although this has taken us time, we have had a group of parents that have been amazing and will be in over the weekend, working hard to plant hedging and plants, encouraging the wildlife in and making it a special place for the children across the Federation.  A huge thank you to the parent volunteers for the support they continuously give, particularly the time that afford us.

Reports went out last term and this is just a quick reminder to make sure that you have opened your child’s report and shared their achievements and next steps with them.  Last term the children chose books to take home and there was excitement from many about getting home to read them!      Reading time with your children is time that is special and something that even now I make sure that I have time to read at home with my grandchildren.   These are times that will always be remembered as being special.

An exciting time ahead as we have the swimming pool arrived and is ready for the children to make a big splash!    This will be an amazing opportunity as even our younger children will be swimming.   Please remember to send your child/children with the correct clothing/equipment so that they don’t miss out.  Mrs Fenniche

Message from Head of School

Welcome Back to the Summer Term!

A very warm welcome back to all of our families! It has been absolutely wonderful to see the children returning to school this week, full of smiles and energy. There is always a special kind of magic about the Summer Term; while the whole year is full of discovery, the arrival of warmer weather and lighter days truly allows us to bring learning to life. We are so lucky at Forster Park to have such vibrant grounds, and we intend to make the most of our outdoor environments as the term progresses.

Polite Report Reminder

Please can I remind ALL parents that they received their child’s Spring Report electronically before the Easter Break. This will have been sent to the email addresses registered on ARBOR. Please ensure you read them. They contain information on your child’s academic progress to date and targets for the Summer Term.

We can see from our systems that not all have been read to date.

A Forest School Plea 🌿

Speaking of our grounds, we have just taken delivery of some beautiful Laurel trees to enhance our Forest School area! I am putting out a plea for any adults who can spare a bit of time to help us get these into the ground.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already volunteered for this Sunday – as the saying goes, “many hands make light work!” If you can join us, your help in developing this natural learning space for the children would be greatly appreciated.

Keeping Our Community Safe 🚗

With the brighter mornings, we want to ensure the school gates remain a safe and welcoming place. I have unfortunately received a number of complaints regarding driving and parking within the school zone.

Please can I remind all parents and carers to be mindful of our neighbour’s and, most importantly, our pupils’ safety:

No Double Parking: This causes dangerous congestion.

No Parking on Double Yellow Lines: These restrictions are there for a reason.

STRICTLY NO PARKING ON THE ZIG-ZAGS: These markings are vital for visibility. They ensure that children have a clear, safe view of the road when entering and exiting the school. Please do not risk a child’s safety for a quicker drop-off.

Making a Splash: Swimming Starts Next Week! 🌊

I am incredibly excited to announce that swimming lessons begin next week for Kingfisher, Parakeet, and Eagle classes. This is a phenomenal opportunity for our children to learn a vital life skill right here on our school site!

The coaching team is raring to go, and I look forward to sharing the successes of this first intensive block in our next newsletter.

Quick Checklist for Swimmers:

  • Swimsuit/trunks
  • Towel
  • Swim cap (essential)
  • No jewellery (please leave earrings at home on swim days)
  • A swim robe or dressing gown (highly recommended for moving to and from the pool)

Clubs and Opportunities

This week, the children have enjoyed assemblies from several external clubs showcasing some fantastic opportunities both after school and in the wider community. You can find more details on these further down in this newsletter.

Summer Clubs will be up and running within the next week. Please ensure you have signed your child up via the usual channels so they don’t miss out on the fun!

Here’s to a sunny, safe, and successful Summer Term.  Mr Bond

Achievements

A Buddhist Mandala is a sacred, intricate geometric diagram representing the universe, a palace of deities, or a map to enlightenment, used primarily in Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism as a meditation tool. Often created with colored sands or painted on scrolls, they symbolize the impermanence of life and aid in focusing the mind to transform it into an enlightened state.

‘In art, we are drawing Mandalas’ – Lily

‘They come from Buddhism and are also seen in Hinduism’ – Cezar

‘They are colourful Mandalas from India and very nice, bright, big and so beautiful’ – Zlata

‘I love Mandalas, they are so nice and colourful’ – Kalani

‘We designed our own patterns to complete our Mandalas’ – Micah

Well done to all the children in year 3 – they are amazing Madalas that you have designed and we love them!

✨ Champions for the Mind: Year 5 Become Mental Health Ambassadors!

We had some very special guests at school recently! Our Year 5 students took part in an inspiring collaboration with Millwall Football Club and the Year 9 students from Knights Academy.

The goal? To learn that looking after our minds is just as important as looking after our bodies.

🧠 Training the Experts

The team from Millwall and the brilliant mentors from Knights Academy spent the term training Year 5 to become Mental Health Ambassadors. Through fun activities and honest conversations, our students learned:

  • How to recognise different feelings.
  • Ways to support friends who might be feeling “low.”
  • The importance of talking about our mental well-being.

🎤 Leading the Way

Once they were fully trained, it was time for Year 5 to put their new skills into action! Stepping into the role of teachers, they delivered their very own workshops to Year 4.

It was wonderful to see the confidence of our new Ambassadors as they shared tips on staying positive and being a kind friend. The Year 4 students loved learning from their older peers, making it a fantastic experience for everyone involved.

“It was so much fun learning from the big kids and the Millwall team. Now I know how to help my friends if they are having a tough day!” — Billy Colwill

A huge thank you to Millwall FC and Knights Academy for helping us build a happier, healthier school community! 🦁💙

Clubs this term …..

We are very pleased to announce that our after-school clubs are starting up again. These clubs will be run by external providers with the exception of Makaton and Gardening club.

We are introducing some new clubs to our rota which we are very excited about! Separate emails have already been sent out with information on the clubs and price.

The number of places in each club are as indicated in the boxes below.  Clubs will start week beginning 20th April 2026 and will end on Thursday 9th July 2025.

To secure a place for Makaton and Gardening please log in to Arbor to confirm your child’s place. All other clubs to be paid directly to provider. Please see table. If you have any questions please contact the office.
