School Council

Forster Park Primary School Council Makes History with Their First Bill!

We are incredibly proud to share some exciting news from our School Council following their recent visit to the Houses of Parliament!

Inspired by their trip, the children have worked together to write and present their very first official School BillThe Suggestion Box Act. This is a fantastic achievement and a brilliant example of pupil voice in action.

The purpose of the Bill is to ensure that every child in our school has the opportunity to share their ideas, opinions, and concerns in a safe, inclusive, and accessible way. The School Council recognised that not all pupils feel confident speaking out in meetings or in front of others, and wanted to create a system that allows everyone to be heard.

As part of this proposal, suggestion boxes will be placed around the school in key areas such as corridors, classrooms, and communal spaces. Pupils will be able to submit their thoughts, anonymously if they wish, and the School Council will regularly collect, review, and discuss these suggestions. They will then share ideas with staff and provide feedback to pupils on any actions taken.

The children approached this project with such enthusiasm, maturity, and a real sense of responsibility. They carefully considered the structure of a real parliamentary bill, including sections on purpose, duties, principles, and expected outcomes. It was wonderful to see them applying their learning in such a meaningful and purposeful way.

We are especially proud of how they have embraced values such as fairness, inclusion, respect, and democracy, truly bringing their Parliament experience to life here at school.

The Bill has now been submitted for approval, and we look forward to seeing this initiative implemented across the school very soon.

Well done to all our School Councillors, you should be extremely proud of yourselves! ❤Mrs Dervish

Sophia from our School Council would like to share a joke:

Why did the school council bring a ladder to the meeting?
Because they wanted to take their ideas to the next level!

TCS Marathon

The energy, determination, and spirit on display at this year’s TCS Children’s Marathon were nothing short of inspiring. Young runners from across the community came together to take on the challenge, each step powered by enthusiasm, resilience, and a shared sense of achievement.

From the starting line to the final stretch, the atmosphere was electric. Families, teachers, and supporters lined the route, cheering on participants as they pushed themselves to reach their goals. For many, this event was not just about crossing the finish line, but about building confidence, embracing healthy habits, and discovering the joy of movement.

Flora Kafaltzi Y2 – “I was feeling excited, but it was very hot! I liked it because it was not too long, and there were bubbles we got to run through!”
Isabella Skeemer Y2 – “It was really fun! It was a really hot, nice day, so we got to run in really nice weather.”
Robin Powell Y2 – “I felt nervous, but then when you start you saw loads of things that made you feel excited. It was a really nice day to go for a run!”
Amina Conde Y2 – “When I started running, I had to keep myself up because it was one mile and I was very tired.”
Dexter Gallagher Y2 – “I was really excited. I felt like I had so much energy in my body!”

We look forward to seeing even more young athletes take part next year and continue this fantastic celebration of health, community, and determination.

⚽Football ⚽

On a crisp and sunny Tuesday afternoon, our Year 5/6 mixed football team traveled to the local sports ground to compete in a prestigious Lewisham schools tournament. Against some of the toughest teams in the borough, our players showed incredible teamwork and determination—which was evident in every tackle and pass they made. After a series of grueling matches, the competition reached a nail-biting conclusion. Remarkably, our team ended up tied in fourth place with another school, as both teams had the exact same number of points and goals scored (a very rare occurrence in tournament football).

Because the scores were identical, the officials had to look at the “goals conceded” rule to decide who would take the final trophy. Tense and silent, the team waited as the scores were tallied up. Fortunately, because our defenders and goalkeeper had only conceded 18 goals throughout the entire day, we nudged ahead of our rivals to secure the Bronze medal! Exhausted but jubilant, the players celebrated their hard-earned victory. Consequently, the Bronze trophy now sits proudly in our school cabinet—a symbol of our team’s “never give up” attitude.
